Rocco Siffredi

Rocco Tano was born on May 4, 1964 in Ortona, Abruzzo, Italy. Born into a large, very Catholic family, little Rocco was an altar boy until the age of 14. His mother wanted one of her five sons to become a priest. A shy, self-conscious teenager, Rocco found the answer to his questions at the height of puberty when he came across Supersex magazine. He wanted to become a porn star. At 16, he joined the army, serving in the Navy until 1982.

In the mid-80s, he met Gabriel Pontello, a famous Italian porn actor, in a swingers club. To pay his bills, Rocco worked as a waiter in Paris with his brothers. He discovered the behind-the-scenes world of porn, and met producer Marc Dorcel and director Michel Ricaud. In 1984, under the pseudonym Rocco Siffredi – inspired by the character Roch Siffredi in Borsalino – he shot his first porn film, Belle d’amour. The offers to shoot soon came flooding in. By 1990, he was making around ten films, then between 1993 and 1995, Rocco Siffredi was shooting as many as twenty a year. In the mid-90s, he decided to set up his own production company, Rocco Siffredi Produzioni, in Budapest, Hungary. The actor collects trophies (Venus Award, Hot d’Or, XBIZ Award). He surprised his audiences when he worked with French director Catherine Breillat (Romance in 1999 and Anatomie de l’enfer in 2004). In 2004, the actor announced his retirement from acting before changing his mind and returning to the credits of a number of films. In 2006, Rocco Siffredi retraced his career in his autobiography, Rocco par Rocco. His filmography numbers over 1000 films. But in March 2015, he announced, live on the set of the Italian reality show, L’Isola del Famosi, that he was putting a definitive end to his career.
