Alain Ducasse

Alain Ducasse is a naturalized Monegasque chef born on September 13, 1956 in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region of France. He began his career at the age of 16 as an apprentice in a restaurant. He also attended the Talence hotel school, but did not complete his course.

In 1975, Alain Ducasse began working under the aegis of Landes chef Michel Guérard. Gaston Lenôtre, Roger Vergé and Alain Chapel also mentored him in the kitchen. After a tour of France’s finest restaurants, he was approached by Monaco’s Société des bains de mer in 1987 to create the gastronomic restaurant Le Louis XV at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, a luxury hotel in Monaco.

Today, at the head of a vast culinary empire, Alain Ducasse has opened several restaurants, inns and cooking schools, and published numerous specialist works. Awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in 2004, the chef has received numerous awards. In 2001, he received the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant.

In June 2021, Alain Ducasse leaves the Parisian palace Le Plaza Athénée, after twenty-one years with the company.
