Are we really free or is this an illusion?

In today’s society, we often find ourselves chained by different problems such as social networks, over-consumption, work, unhealthy relationships. Emancipation and self-fulfillment are therefore key elements needed in the pursuit of happiness. To achieve this, however, we must face many obstacles, challenges, and hinders. The objective of the new ongoing Hinders collection is to show how much humanity is blinded by everyday issues not realizing those chains around.

With these photographs, the artist wants not only to analyze our society, but also to give a solution. The intention is to approach this question by taking the side of the liberation of oneself by resolving one’s inner fears through a work of reflection and introspection. In his works, Idan Wizen tries to describe, in a subtle and dreamlike way, an ode to free will, individual decision, and the ability of each person to break his chains.

Idan Wizen

Idan Wizen, a Franco-Israeli artist and photographer, has made a significant mark in the photography domain, notably with his emblematic project "An Anonymous Nude in the Living Room." His work has been highlighted in renowned cities such as Paris, New York, Miami, and Osaka. In 2013, his unique talent for capturing male nudity was honored with the award for the best male nude photograph at the International PhotoShootAwards, marking the start of over sixty accolades for his project.

Born on October 26, 1984, in Tel-Aviv, Idan began his studies at the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas in 2002, initially focusing on economics and management. However, he quickly discovered that his true interests lay in the fields of art, photography, and advertising, prompting him to redirect his career towards these passions.

After reassessing his ambitions, Idan enrolled in Sup de Pub, where he earned a Master's in Art Direction in 2007. Continuing on this path, he also secured a Master's degree from the University of the Arts London in 2008. Upon returning to Paris, after a brief stint as a marketing manager in the cosmetics sector, Idan founded Studio Idan, an agency specializing in print, web, and photography.

Alongside running his agency, Idan ventured into photography. On April 18, 2009, he launched the project "An Anonymous Nude in the Living Room," which quickly stood out for its mastery of lighting, the intrinsic beauty of each shot, and his ability to swiftly establish trust with his models. To date, the project has attracted over 2400 participants.

In 2023, Idan Wizen took a significant step forward in his career by opening the Art Gallery of Studio Idan, a space dedicated to the exhibition and sale of art prints. This venue provides a new platform for showcasing his works, as well as those of other artists who share his vision.
